Live! – In Studio – David McKnight!

Mark Byelich |

In this week’s Weekly Webinar, Mark and David McKnight go live to discuss important updates as well as talk about what you can be doing with your finances now to have a more tax-efficient retirement. They begin the webinar with a discussion on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and what retirees can expect in the future once this legislation expires. David McKnight argues that while lower taxes is ideal, a raise in taxes is necessary if we want to avoid our nation going broke. This conversation then moves into a discussion on what is happening with the debt ceiling and what can happen globally if we default on our debt as a country. The men predict that come 2030, everything going on with the American economy will come to a head, threatening the financial stability of many Americans.

Moving on, Mark and David McKnight begin a discussion on whether or not it’s possible for Congress to make Roth IRAs taxable, and if they did, what that might look like for retirees in the future. David McKnight reflects on the ways that the government has raised and lowered tax rates throughout history, without using Roth IRAs to do so, stating that to tax Roth IRAs on the backend would be to break a promise that the government has made to its citizens. David McKnight also points out that Roth IRAs are something that both the government and citizens love, protecting it further from being manipulated.
